For children
Our speech-language pathologists are experienced in helping children with a wide range of communication difficulties. We work closely with parents to help children reach their potential as communicators. Our philosophy is that in addition to being research-based and effective, speech therapy sessions should be an enjoyable,confidence-building experience for children.
We offer various services for children and their families, including:
- Assessment of speech, language, phonological awareness and literacy skills
- Diagnosis of a range of communication difficulties, including dyslexia
- Formal assessment reports
- Therapy sessions tailored to your child's needs
- Home programs (if appropriate)
The development of speech, language and literacy are closely related. Understanding the impact of early communication difficulties on later development is a key element of our practice.
Early intervention is proven to be most effective. This means that as soon as it is noticed your child is having difficulty, it is worth seeking professional advice. It does not mean that if the first warning signs occur at grade three that you have “missed the boat”. It means that if your child is identified as being at risk of further difficulties it is beneficial to ensure everything is being done to build on emerging skills as soon as possible.
If you have concerns regarding your child, please contact us so that we can match your child to the speech-language pathologist best able to respond to their needs.
